Brought to you by University of Idaho Extension in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, Eat Smart Idaho helps adults and families learn the basics of

  • healthy eating
  • smart shopping
  • food safety
  • quick meal preparation
  • management of limited grocery dollars
  • increased levels of physical activity

With over 200 community partners, our nutrition advisers teach classes for adults and youth in about 37 Idaho counties. Classes are taught at emergency food sites, food stamp offices, adult rehabilitation centers, public housing sites and schools with high numbers of free and reduced lunch participants.

Eat Smart Idaho is supported by two USDA grants: Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education (SNAP-Ed), in partnership with the Idaho Department of Health & Welfare and the United States Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service, and EFNEP (Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program), in partnership with the USDA National Institute for Food and Agriculture.

Last year, lessons were delivered to over 1,100 adults and 3,900 Idaho youth. Would you like to be one of them? Check out our class schedule!
