Many of us want to avoid weight gain during the holiday season. Yet we don’t want to miss out on the fun or traditional holiday foods! Set yourself up for success this holiday season by establishing healthful habits now.
- Eat a breakfast of whole grains and fruit. This will help you stay full throughout the morning and resist some of the cravings that lead to consumption of foods that you aren’t REALLY going to enjoy (stale donuts, I’m eyeing you).
- Drink water everyday: sometimes when you feel hungry, you are actually just thirsty.
- Eat slowly and savor your food! You will give your brain more time to register that you are full and you will be less likely to overeat.
- Get outside and enjoy the beautiful fall colors, a family walk or bring your dog! Moving more is key this time of year! Make sure to include it on Thanksgiving Day, work out a plan to include it among all of the food preparation!
